- I work for a small independent software vendor in Buckinghamshire, and have done for nine years. We don't have "official" job titles, but the most common one I would use is "Software Developer". I can be found coding in VB6, VB.NET, and PHP. Often, this will be to a SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL database. Being a self-confessed geek, I find myself distracted from these duties far too often for my boss' liking, and may often be up to my elbows in Windows Server, random client or colleague problems, or just generally sticking my nose in elsewhere.
